A HOTEL / AN ARTIST

This prestigious label designates the Piotr Klemensiewicz experience – the “otherness” of a world made up of familiar yet strange objects where colours and geometric forms are suffused with mystery and elegance.

Piotr Klemensiewicz’s works were procured by the Vacances Bleues Art Collection when they were first put on show in the company offices in Marseille in 1998.

31 of his paintings and silkscreen prints have been on permanent display in the Villa Modigliani since November 2007 and form a first retrospective exhibition of this artist’s work which transports the viewer to another world composed of everyday yet unusual objects far removed from any naturalistic representation.

His works include: “Des Damiers aux Encombrements” (The Blocked Checkerboard), “Des Maisons aux Nuages Mensonges” (Houses in the Lying Clouds) and “Ciels en Damier d’Etoiles” (Skies in a Checkerboard of Stars). Piotr Klemensiewicz’s works both evolve and are defined by the principle of claiming territory, questioning its spatial boundaries, giving new meaning to objects by shifting perspectives and defying the very logic of the structure, from a constantly changing viewpoint.
